The composition was completeonly when all of the blocks had been printed. Diogenes (died about 320 bc)was a Greek philosopher renowned for his avoidance of physical pleasure.The rooster in the background is an obscure reference to Diogene'scondemnation of Plato's definition of man as a featherless biped.
