Cram's Standard American Atlas Of The United States, Compiled from the very latest sources, showing Railroads, Rivers, Counties, Towns, Villages, Post Offices, Population, &c., to date. A Complete Guide For Business Men. Scale, 19 Miles to an Inch. Published By George F. Cram, Proprietor Of The Western Map Depot, 66 Lake Street, Chicago, Ill. 1878.
Pub Reference:
U.S. Atlases L3600 (1880 edition).
Pub Note:
The rarest and most attractive of Cram's atlases. The maps are large folio, with hand color, taken from the same plates as Cram's pocket maps of the same date (or vice versa). All maps are on the same scale, 19 miles to one inch. This issue is two years earlier than the earliest (1880) shown in U.S. Atlases. Later editions were 1880, 1881, and 1885 (which may be smaller). In 1875, Cram put out a "New Commercial Atlas of the United States and Territories "(P1275) which probably used the same maps. After 1885, Cram discontinued this atlas and concentrated on the mass produced "Unrivaled Family Atlas" and the "Standard American Railway Atlas."
