Publication Note: 17 maps on 41 sheets, with 8 of the maps on 4 sheets. These are some of Brue's earliest large maps, with the four sheet "carte encyprotypes" preceded by a single sheet reduced version of the same map. Included are World (1816), Europe (1816), France (1816), Asia (1814), Africa (1814), North America (1815), South America (1816) and Oceania (1814). This atlas was competition for Aaron Arrowsmith's maps of similar scale and size. There is a map of the World in hemispheres that is not included in the index. Maps have outline and full color. Covers are tan marbled paper covered boards with a paper label on the front cover reading "Grand atlas universel, ou collection de cartes encyprotypes, des cinq parties du Monde; Dediees et presentees a Monsieur, Par H. Brue, Ingeneur-Geographe de S.A. Royale. A Paris, Chez Desray ..." printed in black.
