Inscriptions:
French verse in Gothic letters translates as follows: "Nothing triumphs by right authority, Unless it be conducted by Eternity. Nothing is permanent beneath the firmament, But above us triumphs Eternity."

Context:
The "Triumph of Eternity" is represented by the Coronation of the Virgin. The verse at the top translates:Nothing triumphing by due authorityRemains permanent and durable.Nothing is permanent under the heavens,But above, eternity triumphs.
