Context:
The triad of Amitabha, Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) and Mahasthamaprapta (Dashizhi) are enclosed within a circle of light. To Buddhist followers of the Pure Land sect, they are the supreme deities ruling over the Western Paradise. To secure entry into that paradise, one must recite the phrase, 'namo amituofo' (Homage to the Buddha Amitabha). Here the phrase is repeated ten times in calligraphy above the deities, as if to reinforce the need for continual recitation.
