Context: 

In this mythological scene, Hercules carries a club, and a lion skin appears slung over his shoulder, serving as impenetrable armor. His companion, Iolaus, carries his bow and quiver. The small figure is unidentified (see photo).

The facial features and curly hair were woven with extra wefts of undyed linen thread that were wrapped around areas of the deep purple wool tapestry weave, often called supplementary weft wrapping.
