Context:
Used to contain liquid, this vessel's body was formed with a two-part mold. The two spouts and the bridgelike handle were made seperately and attached. The vessel represents a grinning skull, a motif whose frequency in Wari art indicates the importanceof warfare and human sacrifice. The skull's mischievous, even malicious grin hints at both life and power beyond death.
