Artist's inscription, signature, and 3 seals:Adorned with rouge for dressing-up in the morning,Rich in colors but spare in fragrance.The east wind was not yet completely in command,Though facing flowering plums, they are mutually heartbroken. On a spring day in the keng-shen year of the Hung-chih era [1500], I was at Shuang-ngo [twin-moth] monks' residence where crab apples are blossoming abundantly. Mr. Lu Ju-ch'i was also visiting then, and asked for a painting of mine, so I painted this to express my feelings. Shen Chou of Ch'ang-chou [sea]] Ch'i-nan. [2 seals, lower left corner] Shih-t'ien; Po-shih weng. trans. LYSL1 additional seal of Wu Yün (1811-1883)
