Context:
Tiwanaku's political, economic, and religious influence extended from the high plains of Bolivia to the western slopes of the Andean mountains, a region now incorporated into the nations of Peru and Chile. Made of multi-colored alpaca yarns, the hat is constructed in one piece, from the top down. Tiwanaku style goods of perishable materials are often preserved in the tombs of this arid region.
