Subject Description:
4 piece service consisting of coffeepot, teapot; sugar basin, and cream pot; each with stepped, domed base with applied band at foot of roundels and leaves; bulbous body with repouse and chased decoration of overlapping pointed arches over bottom half; band of roundels and leaves larger in scale than base; handles cast in the form of a snake with wooden central sections on coffee and tea posts, and entirely silver on milk pot and sugar basin; snake tails curl on coffee and tea pots and plain on sugar basin and milk pot; engraved scales and cast acanthus leaf terminals; 2 part cast swan head spouts on tea and coffee pots with engraved feathers on head and neck; scotia molding joins neck to acanthus leaf attachment to body of pot; domed lids with small scale repouse and chased motif on body; pine cone or pineapple finial; narrow band of engraved leaves at edge of lids and at top of milk pot; lids hinged on tea and coffee pots; separate lid on sugar basin; integral pouring spout on milk pot; all pieces
