Pub Note:
In original binding without a title page. This volume considered a complete set of the 45 issued maps, according to Phillips. Hand colored as outline color. Each map is centered on the sheet and surrounded by explanatory text. Prime meridian is Washington. Relief shown by hachures. This atlas is always found as a composite atlas with varying counts of maps, usually from about 30 to 45 (this copy). It was clearly inspired by the 1822 Carey and Lea American Atlas (see our copies) and has some similarities to the 1825 French edition of the Carey and Lea made by Bouchon (see our copy). All the maps in this German edition were also issued separately. Many of these maps have information not found in the American and French editions.
