Revised and improved edition of Railway and traffic atlas of Europe. Presenting the up to date state of European state and private railways. Founded by W. Koch and C. Opitz, edited by C. Opitz. Published by J.J. Arnd in Leipzig, 1905. Atlas contains 79 double page and folded maps, including the map of Trans-Siberian railway from Moscow to Vladivostok, the longest single railway in the world and a foldout railway map of the world. Maps showing railways, steam trams, roads, distances, stations, industrial railways, freight transport, political boundaries, provinces, cities and distances. Relief shown by hachures. The atlas also contains 2 extra maps and list of updates, VII pages index of independent railways and railway companies in Europe, 95 pages of alphabetical index with names of cities and railway stations, list of state and private railways with their headquarters and a special section, with 49 pages of German and Austria-Hungarian rail freight tariffs text, edited by Alexander Klinger " Die Eisenbahn-Güter-Tarife in Deutschland, in Österreich-Ungarn... bearbeitet von Alexander Klinger". And 2 pages of contents and index. Bound in hard embossed olive color pictorial covers, with title "Dr. W. Koch's Eisenbahn und verkehers atlas von Europa" in black on cover. Along with the atlas, a separate volume called "Verkehrshandbuch", containing charts of distances between railway stations, was published in the same year. The showing of railway stations on all lines makes these maps useful primary sources.
