By Thomas Webster. The work concerned as much with historic architecture and picturesque landscape as with geology. It consists of 47 engraved plates, 9 of them folding, one hand colored, and 3 folding maps, one hand-colored, including 1 plan and 1 cross section. Views and maps engraved by W. and G. Cooke and J. Walker, from Original Drawings by Sir H. Englefield and T. Webster. Half-title bound in. Includes xxvii pages of preface and explanation of the plates, 238 pages of descriptive text, 4 pages of index. Bound in dark reddish-brown half morocco covers with title “Englefield Isle of Wight” in gilt in on spine.
