World atlas featuring a map of each hemisphere, continent, as well as maps focusing on specific countries including Germany, France, Switzerland, India, and Egypt, among others. Maps show political boundaries, select cities, topography, deserts, bodies of water, drainage, coastlines, and islands. All are hand-colored engravings printed on single sheets. Aristide Michel Perrot (1793-1879) was a French geographer, cartographer and essayist active in the first half of the 19th century. Perrot specialized in the creation of miniature maps that appear in numerous French atlases. He also compiled geographical lexicons and wrote essays. Although he left behind an extensive oeuvre, almost nothing is known about his life.
