Pub Note:
[Atlas of historical, chronological and genealogical charts and historical maps] by Henry Bostwick (1787-1837). Published by Bostwick in New York, 1830. Bound in board decorated with marbled paper, and with a leather spine. Comprised of 10 maps and 7 chronological and genealogical charts depicting historical events and the family trees of kings and emperors. The first chart provides an example and explanation of Bostwick’s data visualization style, with certain historical and mythological figures demonstrating a genealogical chart. Chronology in the charts spans the years 2500 AM (Anno Mundi) to 4000 CE (Common Era). The maps represent Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and they show political boundaries, select cities, ethnic groups, and their movements over time, topography, bodies of water, drainage, islands, and coastlines. Maps have descriptive notes throughout, including historical details. Hand-colored engravings.
