This map shows Buenos Aires at an early stage in its growth, although the immediate downtown area is fully built out. The railroads are prominently delineated. The map publisher, Pablo Ludwig, was one the formost map makers in South America at the end of the 19th century. His output included a 9 sheet map of Argentina (1896), Castro's Map of the Railways of South America (1893), and his Nuevo mapa de la Republica Argentina, Chile, Uruguay y Paraguay of 1914.

This historical cartographic image is part of the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, www.davidrumsey.com, a large collection of online antique, rare, old, and historical maps, atlases, globes, charts, and other cartographic items.
