Broke was in Lower Canada with his regiment, the 5th (Northumberland) Regiment of Foot, which was at the battle of Plattsburg in 1814. Later, he was with the Army of Occupation in France, receiving the Waterloo medal despite arriving from Canada too late for the battle (from Manasek). Without color.
